North Vancouver Food Bank Updates

Mayor Buchanan is participating in the Greater Vancouver Food Bank’s
‘Mayors’ Food Bank Challenge’ May 1 – 31, 2023

Our Community Needs Your Help

No one should go hungry. But the reality is that many people in our community are food insecure. That’s why from May 1 to 31 I am pleased to participate in the 3rd annual Mayors’ Food Bank Challenge. I have partnered with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB), along with 4 of my mayoral colleagues, to raise funds and bring a greater awareness to this issue.

In 2022, the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, through their partner agencies such as the North Shore Neighbourhood House, served 1,154 people per month in North Vancouver – more than doubling the previous record of 576 set in 2021. There has been an increase of seniors and young children in particular who need support.

And I need your help to raise enough funds to support feeding hungry people in our community.

This year we want to raise $55,000 to feed our neighbours. Can you help us reach our goal?

  1. Go online to the Mayors’ Food Bank Challenge and make a donation. Tax receipts are issued automatically for all levels of donation.
  2. Issue a challenge to others in your network to match or beat your donation.
  3. Share your donation or a message of support for the campaign on social media. Use the hashtag #GVFBMayors and tag my social media.

In the face of adversity, we have come together as a community to support one another.  Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Mayor Linda Buchanan
